Unpalatable truth about benefits of immigration

So more immigration, according to Dominic Lawson is a good thing (“Welcome to Britsville: no migrants, just robots”’ Comment, last week)? There are countless examples of the dsadvantages of immigration to set against the curry houses and Chinese takeaways claimed by him as being among its benefits.

Ask parents who are unable to get their children into their school of choice, aspiring homeowners priced out of the market, and commuters forced to travel on congested roads and trains. Critically, there is no reliable evidence that immigration boosts prosperity as measured by gross domestic produce per capita.
